How Do You Make Popcorn — Thought 41

Let’s have some tasty fun today. There are so many ways to make popcorn. Some unusual. How do you make popcorn? What’s the most unusual way you know of?
I’ll start out. Growing up as a kid we had a special “popcorn” pan. It was black from use. We would start with a stick of butter. Let it melt and then add plenty of white popcorn. If we wanted something different we would use bacon grease instead of butter. We cooked it until it was almost black and then doused it with milk to eat. I thought that was the only way to eat popcorn until I was a teenager and started getting kettle cooked popcorn at movie theaters and sporting events.
Can you top this in unusual ways to make popcorn?

I don’t eat that way too often now (though sometimes I can’t resist the temptation). Now I opt for the more healthy microwave popcorn. Do you have a favorite or usual way of cooking popcorn?
Comment by yoakumjames June 19, 2009 @ 7:29 pmCool blog. I usually make my own microwavable pop corn. I mix the kernels with olive oil so it’s nice and healthy. then I place it in a brown paper lunch bag. Crease the top to seal and then I just pop it in the microwave like one of those pre-made microwavable popcorn bags. Nice and low fat.

Comment by yoakumjames June 19, 2009 @ 7:19 pmI usually just get the kernals and pop em in a pan with olive oil and just add plain old salt. I eat it like meal sometimes. At the movies as a kid, I used to get JUST the nacho cheese and a bag of popcorn and dip the popcorn in the cheese.
